Now, two types of electric taxis are coming into operation in Bagmati Pradesh. The Bagmati state government has made such arrangements by determining the criteria of the electric taxi.
The government has set the standards for ordinary, special (deluxe) taxis by issuing ‘Standards 2078 regarding quality, operation, and management of public passenger taxi service’.
Along with the standard of electric vehicles, the government has made it mandatory to switch to the electric taxi while buying a new taxi after exchanging at least a 20-year-old taxi model.
The government has introduced criteria for operating two sorts of electric taxis, classified into ordinary taxis and deluxe taxis. According to the new criteria, ordinary taxis should have a capacity of 5 seats while deluxe may have a capacity of 5 or 7 seats.
The car should be a sedan with a boot space of over 200 liters, a motor with a capacity of at least 30 kW, and a lithium-ion battery of 20 kW. It is also mentioned that the minimum range of such taxis should be around 210 kilometers.
The Bagmati government has brought new standards for taxis with respect to the Department of Transport Management’s standards. The Department of Transportation Management brought the new standard of taxis in Mangsir 2076 BS.
