Public transport and taxi fares have increased in Kathmandu Valley and Bagmati. The new fare has been implemented from 2079 by the Bagmati State Government.
According to the new fare, one will have to pay Rs 20 for five kilometers, Rs 25 for ten kilometers, Rs 30 for fifteen kilometers, Rs 33 for twenty kilometers and Rs 38 for distances above twenty kilometers.
Similarly, the taxi fare has been fixed at Rs 10 per 200 meters. The waiting fee is set at Rs 1.20 per minute. One can only wait for up to 30 minutes at most.
If the price of petroleum products increases by five percent or more again, the fares will be adjusted accordingly.
Public transport is getting more and more expensive not to mention the discomfort and other problems. It is best to own a car rather than hanging in an expensive public vehicle with increasing fare.
